Sampling guide
How to collect a fur sample
A clean, well documented sample improves laboratory handling and interpretation quality
Sampling checklist
- Clean scissors
- Cut ~100-200 mg of fur/hair (~1 to 2 tablespoons)
- Cut as close to the skin as possible and the length should not exceed 5 cm
- If the hair is very long, cut it just on the skin side to less than 5 cm
- Be careful not to damage the animal’s skin with the scissors (use a comb to protect the skin)
- Put the sample in a plastic bag or envelope containing the animal information.
- Always choose black fur and if not possible see the preferred sampling position below (red arrow)
- Send it to Delta-Biomarkers, 24 rue Jean Baldassini 69007 Lyon France and if possible an email to contact@furanalysis.com
